Around one third of jobs in industrialised countries will become more productive thanks to AI, but another third could disappear. The IMF demands political initiatives to deal with the changes.

During the transition phase of AI introduction, wages will tend to fall and capital income will increase. The IMF is calling for a reorganisation of the tax system, an expansion of social assistance, and targeted training.

The IMF is demanding structural economic reforms worldwide. And it is urging Germany to ease its debt brake- something that Finance Minister Christian Lindner does not view as a solution to weak economic growth.
